L’Tanya Williams

As for my own goals in taking this course (Music Theory), it’s been a lifelong goal to truly learn how to play the piano. I’ve had some instruction in theory in the
past, but never have I been taught in such a way that I truly retained what I learned and could see where it could be applied until now. I am extremely excited
and enthused over the information that I have absorbed while studying with Alton. I am also excited at the next step in the process, which is learning how to actually use what I’ve learned creatively.

The course materials were, to my delight, much more thorough than I had ever anticipated. I now feel as though I’m “on the inside” of conversations that musicians have about their craft, and also feel as though it is possible for me to reach a level of mastery that’s comparable to those I have grown to respect and admire.

Alton was very skilled at, not only teaching and explaining the materials, but also at steering me in the appropriate direction so as to discourage any frustration that may have tried to creep in while I was adjusting to my own learning curve. I have nothing but positive remarks for the course and the way it was presented.
